Priyanka Chopra has the perfect skin and hair: Blossom Kochhar Interview
Blossom Kochhar is a pioneer in the field of aromatherapy for long. The lady has been a stalwart in promoting healthy lifestyle with her indigenous products, the beneficiaries of which include top-class national and international clientele. Mrs Kocchar turned her belief in the therapeutic properties of essential oils and natural fragrances into a lifestyle concept and industry with great success.
The beauty expert had a chit chat with Bikas Bhagat of Spicezee.com and gave some valuable information on the benefits of aromatherapy and tips to enhance beauty. Following are the excerpts:
Q: What inspires you to create natural products?
Blossom: Your skin inspires me to create natural products. Your skin is breathing…living and is a part of you. What you eat should have the property that it can be put on your face and whatever you put on your face should be edible. My products go through many-many years of testing before they are introduced.
Q: How does aromatherapy help in enhancing beauty?
Blossom: Aromatherapy is excellent for the body, mind and soul. You can use essential oils for massage, for instance, you can use them in your bathwater, after shower, and for any stress related ailments like body ache, hormonal problems, sinus, headache and migraine. Or you can try lavender for stress and ache. Then there is ‘ylang ylang’ to pep you up and Jasmine to lift you from depression. Sandal wood is also excellent oil.
Q: With monsoons coming what are the special things that one should keep in mind for perfectly healthy hair and skin?
Blossom: During the monsoons, cleanse your skin regularly with a good face wash. Don’t use any heavy moisturizer or creams; exfoliate twice a week with a good scrub. Cleaning hair is very important. Shampoo often as hair tends to get dirty, and dry your hair before braiding to avoid fungal infections.
Q: How would you define beauty?
Blossom: Beauty is holistic, it has to deal with your body, mind and soul and when everything is in harmony the person is beautiful.
Q. What’s your take on cosmetic surgery and Botox treatment? Are there any side effects?
Blossom: Well, they are basically beauty enhancement treatments and in most cases, they are adopted only if there is dire need for it. I mean if you are in a line of work which demands you to look glamorous, say like in showbiz, then there is no harm. However, these operations should only be done after a certain age and youngsters should refrain from such procedures instead they should rejuvenate themselves with aromatherapy.
Q: What can people do to reduce stress? Please suggest.
Blossom: We would recommend you to go for aromatherapy. Get yourself a diffuser, add a little water on the top of the diffuser, light a candle and add a few drops of Peach or Lavender oil. The oils can also be used in bath water, on the pillow and you can also use it in a potpourri.
Q: Can you tell us something about yourself? What all do you do - only aromatherapy or regular beauty treatment and makeup also?
Blossom: I also do make up, beauty and hair as well as skin care and spa therapy. I teach Reiki and play golf.
Q: Which celebrity do you think has the perfect skin tone and hair?
Blossom: Priyanka Chopra and…yes this pretty girl Katrina Kaif.
Q: We have heard that there are some international stars visiting your store for beauty and essential oils…
Blossom: It was only some time back that at our Qutub Colonnade store, we had a surprise visitor one day - Richard Gere. He walked into the store once and picked up ‘Dreams` (an essential oil). Ever since, whenever he’s in Delhi on his way to Dharamshala, he drops by at the store.

Lindsay Lohan spends less than a day in LA jail |
LOS ANGELES – Lindsay Lohan was freed from a suburban Los Angeles jail late Friday night, well short of the nearly monthlong stay a judge had intended for the actress following a failed drug test.
Lohan was released at about 11:40 p.m. after posting $300,000 bail, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said early Saturday.
Celebrity website TMZ.com reported her release just before midnight.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Elden Fox had ordered Lohan held without bail during a brief hearing Friday morning, But his ruling later was overturned after the "Mean Girls" star's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, filed a late-afternoon appeal seeking bail.
Judge Patricia Schnegg, who is an assistant supervising judge of LA's criminal courts, issued a ruling shortly before 6 p.m., saying that since the starlet had been convicted of misdemeanors, she was entitled to bail.
The actress is not entirely free. She will be required to wear an ankle alcohol monitor and stay away from establishments that primarily sell alcohol.
She is also due back in court on Oct. 22, when the judge who curtly sent her to jail will decide what her punishment will be for failing a drug test roughly two weeks after he released her early from rehab.
At that hearing, Fox will formally determine whether Lohan, 24, violated her probation by failing a court-mandated drug test. The positive result came after the judge released Lohan early from inpatient rehab at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
Fox did not say why he had ordered no bail for the actress Friday morning, or state what drug appeared in her system during the recent test.
Friday marked the third time Lohan has been sent to jail in a three-year-old drug and drunken driving case. She spent 84 minutes at the jail in 2007 and 14 days of a three-month sentence earlier this summer.
After news of her positive drug test broke last week, Lohan seemed to acknowledge an addiction problem on her Twitter feed.
"Substance abuse is a disease, which unfortunately doesn't go away over night," Lohan posted on Twitter on Sept. 17. "This is certainly a setback for me but I am taking responsibility for my actions and I'm prepared to face the consequences."
Fox had laid out a strict 67-day course of counseling, substance abuse meetings, monitoring and drug testing for Lohan in August. He asked probation officials on Friday to report how the actress had progressed on the treatment programs before Lohan's next court hearing.
The judge has said Lohan would be sent to jail for 30 days for each drug screening she skipped or failed and appeared to make good on the promise with his no bail order.
If he sentences her to jail in October, the amount of time he orders her to serve would be whittled down because of jail overcrowding and various credits.
Despite her release Friday, Lohan's continued court troubles have cast a pall over her career. She has been slated to star as Linda Lovelace in a biopic about the porn star, but the production schedule already was altered when Lohan was sent to jail in July.
In an e-mail sent before Lohan was granted bail, Matthew Wilder, the writer-director of the film titled "Inferno," said the film's producers "want her to do well." He did not address whether Lohan's role would be recast or the film further delayed.

Ashton Kutcher& Demi Moore: Rumors Their Marriage |
From battling rumors to celebrating their 15-year age difference, here's how the couple – who celebrate five years of marriage Sept. 24 – make their marriage work
DEVOTING TIME TO CHARITY
The actors are devoted to using their celebrity for a good cause, promoting volunteerism with New York City's Mayor Michael Bloomberg last Sept., and recently taking up the cause of child exploitation and human trafficking. "It's something that we looked at together and we've done a lot of research on," Kutcher discussed with Lisa Ling on Oprah.com. "It's time to make it an agenda item."KEEPING FAMILY CLOSE
"Ashton's relationship with his own mother is really wonderful, so it made the transition to being with a woman with daughters something he didn't bat an eye at," Moore told V magazine. In addition to being close with Moore's girls Tallulah, Rumer and Scout (not pictured), the actor also maintains a friendly relationship with her ex Bruce Willis, who even guest-starred on That '70s Show with Kutcher!KNOWING WHEN IT'S PLAYTIME
Whether checking out a New York Yankees-Los Angeles Dodgers game or flaunting their gym-toned bodies on a vacation to the Caribbean, the happy couple know it's important to take time for each other.PRESENTING A UNITED FRONT
Amid tabloid reports of cheating, Ashton Kutcher took to Twitter, calling the charges "defamation of character." Demi Moore agreed, Tweeting her support of her husband and sharing photos of the two together on the set of her movie The Reasonable Bunch and breaking their fast for Yom Kippur with a trip to Applebee's. As a friend recently told PEOPLE, the twosome seem "super committed".SUPPORTING EACH OTHER'S FILMS
Moore stands by her man at the premiere of his movie Spread, while Kutcher supports his wife for Flawless. When their respective jobs call for a red carpet appearance, both will be there. It's much more glam than their first date: "We had In-N-Out [Burger] Kutcher said. "It's hard to beat that."WORKING TOGETHER
They gave their regards to Broadway last November as Kutcher made his Great White Way debut alongside his wife (and Eva Mendes and Fisher Stevens) in The 24 Hour Plays, a benefit for the Urban Arts Partnership, a charity supporting arts in N.Y.C. public schools. Moore even showed up when Kutcher hosted Saturday Night Live in 2005 – and mocked their age gap dressing like an elderly woman.DRESSING THE PART
"Your man should not upstage you," Kutcher once wrote in Harper's Bazaar in an essay about fashion. "He is there to highlight you." He lives up to his words, often opting for soft tones to accent his wife (right, promoting her Wanted perfume; left, in pinstripes at 2008's Chrysalis Butterfly Ball).SHOWING P.D.A.
"I hate Valentine's Day. I think every day should be a day of romance," Kutcher recently said – and boy, does he mean it! Whether snuggling on the red carpet – or posting their racy plans for the night on Twitter – Moore and Kutcher have no problem celebrating their love publicly. Moore recently posted this shot, writing, "Race u to the bedroom" on her hand. Naughty!Sep 23, 2010

Katie Holmes Biography |
Katie Holmes Biography, Profile
On December 18, 1978 Katie Holmes was born in Toledo, Ohio. She is an American actress who has won a shared award with Tom Cruise. This was the Golden Raspberry Award for the movie Most Tiresome Tabloid Targets in 2006.
Throughout her years in high school, Katie Holmes appeared in several school musicals, including the role of a waitress in Hello, Dolly! and the role of Lola in Damn Yankees. At the age of fourteen, Katie Holmes began taking modeling classes and eventually went to the International Modeling and Talent Association Competition in New York City in 1996. While there she was able to find an agent. She was then cast in the movie The Ice Storm in 1997, during which she played the role of Libbets Casey. Following this movie, Katie Holmes went to Los Angeles for pilot season. (This is when producers cast and shoot new programs in hopes of securing a spot on a network schedule.) At this time she was offered the lead in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, which she turned down. Of course, she also turned down the opportunity to audition for the role of Joey Potter on The WB television teen drama Dawson's Creek. Instead she auditioned by videotape. While she landed this role, she also first achieved her fame via this role.

German foreign minister 'marries' gay partner |
Berlin: German Foreign Minister and Deputy Chancellor Guido Westerwelle has married his long time gay partner at a secret registry office wedding in Bonn.
48-year-old Westerwelle and businessman Michael Mronz entered the wedlock on Friday when Bonn's Mayor Juergen Nymptsch personally performed the ceremony as the registrar, local media reports said.
Neither Chancellor Angela Merkel nor any of Westerwelle's Cabinet colleagues were present when the foreign minister gave his 'ja' or 'yes' to Mronz, 43, and the ceremony was attended only by a handful of closest family members and friends of the couple, the reports said.
Westerwelle and Mronz, a promoter of sporting events, later celebrated the formalisation of their partnership in a restaurant in Cologne.
They met for the first time at a horse racing championship in the city of Aacnen in 2003 and since then they have been living as a couple.
In Berlin, a government spokesman said on Friday night that Chancellor Merkel telephoned Westerwelle shortly after his wedding to wish the two men good luck.
Westerwelle's liberal Free Democratic Party (FDP) is a junior partner in Merkel's centre-right coalition, which came to power after the general elections in September last year.
Germany eased restrictions on same sex marriage in 2001 and allowed gay and lesbian couples to form "registered partnerships”, which give them the same rights in many areas as heterosexual couples.
However, homosexual marriages are still not treated as equal to a marriage between a man and a woman.
Westerwelle has set new standards in German politics by becoming the first openly gay politician to lead a major political party and later assuming one of the highest offices in this country.
After nearly a year at the helm of Germany's diplomacy, he earned respect from his critics, who had expressed doubts about the suitability of a gay politician as the nation's chief diplomat.

We are engaged, says Lara Dutta, Mahesh Bhupathi |
After winning the Miss Universe crown ten years ago, Lara Dutt lived in New York for a while. Tennis ace Mahesh Bhupathi was there, too. But, they never bumped into each other then. Still, the city remains one of their favourites in the world, and that is perhaps why Mahesh chose to pop the questionthere, during the recent US Open. “He did it over a candlelit dinner and took me completely by surprise. I couldn’t believe that he had picked the stone and designed the ring all by himself,” beams HT City columnist, Lara, flashing her diamond.
The engagement has made the relationship “official”, as the couple has been spotted often, publicly, but till now neither had confirmed or denied a relationship. “When I was asked if I was single, I said ‘no’, but beyond that refused to divulge details about my personal life. I’ve always said that I’d speak about my relationship only when I knew where it was headed. Mahesh was going through a divorce and he needed space to sort things out and not a complicated khichdi,” she reasons.
Lara MaheshEven when Mahesh’s ex-wife Svetha Jaishankar opened up to the media, insisting that Lara had been responsible for the end of her marriage, the actor maintained a dignified silence. Today, Lara says, “I met Mahesh a year after he had separated from his ex-wife. So I was not involved or responsible for their break-up. Once we started seeing each other, I knew instinctively that he was my Mr Right. But we waited, gave ourselves time to see if things would work out right and announce it properly.”
So, when did epiphany strike? “I was shooting for Houseful in London, Mahesh was training non-stop. We hadn’t seen each other in six weeks. When we finally met, I knew we both were in trouble,” Lara laughs. When’s the marriage? Not this year,” she says. “Both of us are too busy. After the Davis Cup, Mahesh has the Commonwealth Games coming up.” She adds, “Our families are excited. We love each other and our three dogs. Life’s beautiful!”

O'Donnell's primary victory is a win for . . . the White House? |
Of all the primaries so far this year, none has been sweeter for the White House than the one in Delaware on Tuesday night.
Christine O'Donnell's stunning victory in the Republican Senate primary changes the subject - at least for now - from the troubled national economy to the fractured Republican party. It also puts the seat once held by Vice President Biden back in play for the Democrats, which in turn reduces the odds they will lose control of the Senate.
The Obama administration is uniquely bound up in this small state: Biden represented it for more than three decades, and when he left, his son, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, entertained the idea of running to replace him. His decision not to do so created a vulnerability for Democrats, because it was widely assumed that moderate Republican Rep. Mike Castle would have the edge in whatever race emerged.
White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer and 2008 campaign manager David Plouffe are also natives of the state, which Obama won in the Democratic primary (54 percent to 42 percent against then-Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton) and in the general election (62 percent to 37 percent against Republican Sen. John McCain).
On Wednesday morning, after Castle lost and the Republican establishment was set reeling, White House officials were ecstatic about the turn of events.
"Until last night, the Republicans were counting on Delaware. Not anymore," Pfeiffer said, adding that when the seat first came open, "no one could envision Mike Castle losing."
Best of all, from the administration's perspective, are the conservative social views O'Donnell has promoted during her repeated attempts at political office. "The energy in the Republican party is now centered around a series of policies that are anathema to most voters, including abolishing Social Security and Medicare and eliminating the Department of Education," Pfeiffer said. "These are the Republican candidates. And now these are the Republican positions, and they must defend them."
At the White House briefing, press secretary Robert Gibbs tried to repress a smile when the subject of the Delaware race arose.
"Last night showed that there's a very vociferous debate going on inside the Republican Party for the hearts and minds of Republican voters," Gibbs said. "I think if you look at what people like Karl Rove, what people like the GOP state chairman, have said, the Republicans in Delaware have nominated someone they don't think could win." At a different point in the briefing, answering an unrelated question on tax policy, Gibbs cheerfully volunteered that the "Republican party appears to have differing viewpoints on a whole host of issues."
Kevin Madden, a Republican strategist, warned Democrats against making too much of O'Donnell's victory. But he did so without praising her.
"The White House should still be very wary," Madden said. "The Republican turnout was indicative of a hyper-energized conservative base. It also indicates just how prominently spending issues and big government sentiments are figuring into the mobilization of voters right now. The midterms are still a referendum on the guys in power and, wow, are voters ticked off at the guys in power."
