India’s tennis ace Sania Mirza on Monday landed back on her home soil after winning laurels with her Australian Open mixed doubles title. She said that the win was extra special for her and she would like to live for the moment for the time being and worry later.
“I plan on living for the moment. This is an extremely special win”, she told reporters at the airport.
The Indian duo of Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi had done the country proud on Sunday by winning the Mixed Doubles title of the Australian Open 2009. In the title clash, Sania-Hesh beat the French-Israeli pair of Nathalie Denchy and Andy Ram in straight sets, 6-3, 6-1.
It was Sania and Bhupathi's first Grand Slam title together. They had ended runners-up here last year.
Sania, who already has many firsts to her credit as far as women's tennis in the country is concerned, has made a fantastic start to the season after coming through the wrist injury, which marred her 2008 campaign.
