Hyderabad: Allaying fears of Telangana supporters that K Chandrasekhar Rao’s condition was deteriorating by the day, the Nims authorities issued a medical report stating that he had been put on ‘total parental nutrition’ and given 3,375 ml of saline with fats, proteins and glucose fluids in the form of intravenous medication on Monday.
The report said that he was receiving antibiotics, antiacids to reduce stomach irritation and total parental nutrition, temperature reducing syrup and paracetamol. The hospital was also giving Econorms sachets to the fasting leader for reducing irritation of stomach and intestines.
“He still continues to have starving ketosis which is now reduced. He looks exhausted and ill, though he talked to a few visitors and read newspapers. His blood glucose is on higher side, however this was managed with insulin. We strongly advise the relatives, friends and well wishers not to meet him, so that the possibility of infection can be reduced,” doctors said.
Sources said that there were instances of KCR’s relatives locking themselves up inside the critical care unit, making the doctors wait outside.
However, on Sunday night, he had fever with chills and rigours. “It was felt that he had early infection. Immediately investigations were done to find out the cause of fever and also treatment started with antibiotics. The temperature gradually came down,” doctors maintained.
The medical report said that his heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate and oxygen saturation were within normal limits.
While KCR became the centre of attention, patients continued to face inconvenience and most of them decided to stay away from the hospital. The otherwise bustling out-patient departments got just 10 per cent of the usual number of patients. The security was tightened with most of the entries inside the the hospital having been closed. Vehicles were also not allowed inside the hospital. People had to get down outside and walk all the way to their respective blocks.
All through the day on Monday, the MRPS activists staged a demonstration on the hospital campus. They indulged in sloganeering and drum beating all through the day. Media baron Ramoji Rao was one among the key visitors who met KCR on Monday.
