Mumbai: Actress Hema Malini’s house in Dindoshi, Goregaon (East), was broken into on Saturday night and cash and jewellery collectively valued at Rs80 lakh were stolen. Following a complaint registered by the actress’s cousin, the Dindoshi police have detained three security guards of the building.
You may also want to see According to the police, the actress was out of town at the time of the incident. On Sunday morning, when the maid came to Malani’s bungalow Gokuldham, she was surprised to see the house in a mess. On checking she found the cupboard open and the safe broken.
The maid then immediately informed Malini’s office employee who also function from the house.“Preliminary investigations suggest that the robbers entered the house by breaking the window,” said inspector SN Shinde of Dindoshi police station. “Jewellery, including diamond and gold sets worth Rs75 lakh, and Rs5 lakh were stolen from the actress’s house.”
Shinde said that Malini’s cousin brother Mohan Narsingh Raghvan filed a complaint on Sunday morning. “The police have detained three watchmen who were on dutyand are questioning them in the case,” said another watchman.
“We have even detained Malini’s domestic servants and are hopeful of catching the culprit soon,” said Shinde, adding that a team has been sent to Nepal after receiving a tip-off.
