Katching up with Karan Johar

Director Karan Johar is hardly one of those boring, reclusive Bollywood celebs. But the swanky director, despite his undying presence on the social circuit, has been rather quiet of late. At one glamorous event though, Karan gave detailed answers to questions related to his next release, his first animation film, his penchant for the letter K, his cameo in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion…and the Dharma Productions film that hasn’t even hit the floors yet. The fact that the Kajol-Shah Rukh pair is making a comeback on screen is in fact true. Karan has finally been able to rope in Mrs Devgan (no wonder he looked a little drained).

While he’s directing Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol for My Name Is Khan, he’s also giving them the boot for another venture. This one is an animated version of the 1998 hit Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Its lead actors, including Rani Mukherjee have been replaced by three cute pooches in the film, and will be dubbing for it instead. Apart from them, actors like Riteish Deshmukh, Sajid Khan, Simi Garewal and Sanjay Dutt will also be lending their voices. About his special appearance in Fashion? “My role in Fashion lasts for two minutes. My good friend Priyanka and the film’s writer Niranjan requested me to do it for them and I agreed, all I have to do is sit in the front row of a fashion show and clap anyway”, he says.
