Euphoria singer Palash Sen 'should apologise for sexist remark' |
Pop-singer Palash Sen has come under the flak of an IIT-Bombay girl student for his alleged sexist remarks on women's beauty and intelligence. Sen along with his band Euphoria, was performing in IIT-B when the front-man asked the audience 'Are there good-looking girls in IIT-B?', a girl student wrote in her blog. The blog which was trending on Twitter on Monday stated of the singer's apparent consolation to the boys of the campus. Sen said, “Don’t worry guys, you will find the best looking women when you leave this campus. Aur woh tumhaare liye roti belenge.”
The girl wrote in her blog that, the audience agreeably cheered at this gallantry and were vindicated. Sen went on to say, “Women are for beauty, men are for intelligence. You have to agree that men are more intelligent than women, don’t you?” When she asked the event managers, they replied saying that it was all done in good humour.
The student expressing disappoint insisted for a public apology from Euphoria and wants the band banned from the campus. She also requested other institutions to do the same.

'Ranveer Was Annoying At Deepika's Party' |
Stars glitter at Deepika's Black & Gold success bash
The high of five straight blockbusters was reflected in Deepika's golden Gucci gown. She walked in just before midnight with parents Ujjala and Prakash Padukone and immediately announced, "It's a party not for me, but for the film fraternity who made this extraordinary year possible. I hope there aren't many catfights inside."
Vidhu Vinod Chopra and wife Anupama were the first guests to arrive. Abhay Deol and girlfriend Preeti Desai were the centre of attention till Ranveer Singh entered wearing a rather flashy gold-embroidered tuxedo. Instantly, the press abandoned Abhay for some Ranveer Leela. Fresh from his Paris sojourn, Sanjay Leela Bhansali walked in with Rohit Shetty, while Milan Luthria came faceto-face with Imran Khan and wife Avantika Malik. Bipasha Basu, predictably arrived with beau Harman Baweja who was dumbstruck to be bombarded with questions about why he had disappeared from the big screen. Bips soon disappeared inside, alone! Farah Khan chose gold too and unabashedly announced that her favorite Dippy act was undoubtedly 'Om Shanti Om'. Karan Johar followed, solo, while Sooraj Barjatya made a rare appearance, but dashed off in a few minutes.
A drowsy Aamir Khan arrived at 1.30 am. Wife Kiran Rao said goodnight around 3 am, so did Gauri Khan. But their husbands, Shah Rukh and Aamir, partied till morning. SRK got into his Mercedes with an unidentified woman around 5 am. Farhan Akhtar also left around 5.30 am, with wife Adhuna. The interiors matched the gold-and-black theme with large candles on the walls. The menu was multi-cusine and a Dutch DJ played house music. However, the party really took off around 5 am when vintage Bollywood chartbusters started to play. After attending to her guests all night, Deepika finally let her hair down and along with SRK, Farah, Alia Bhatt, Punit Malhotra, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor danced to vintage hits like 'My Name is Lakhan', 'Ek Do Teen', 'Khaike Paan Banaraswala', 'Jumma Chumma De De' and 'Mehbooba O Mehbooba'. Ranveer Singh was his usual boisterous self. A fellow partygoer complained, "He was over-energetic and after a point, it got a little annoying." Randeep Hooda hung out with Rahul Bose and after a while escorted inebriated female guests out to their cars. Shahid Kapoor too was a gallant knight on duty till he left with Shabina Khan. Deepika, we were told, left around 7.30 am. Before that we caught an upcoming star who comes from a well-known film family and a sexy star wife known for her item numbers, exchange a lingering kiss, before she zoomed off to party at another night club and he went inside to discuss movies with his director friend.

Kamya strategy to win 'Bigg Boss 7' |
Kamya is one contestant in the Bigg who has believed in fair play, be it for a task or otherwise, She has always been balanced and carried out all her responsibilities in a timely manner. But with Bigg Boss approaching its climax, Kamya seems to have come up with a new game strategy to secure her position in the finale. Since they first became friends, Kamya has always stayed true to her friend Gauahar and has rarely had a difference in opinion with her.
After the luxury budget task comes to an end, Bigg Boss asks the housemates to unanimously decide upon two names who have been the weak performers in the task. While Gauahar, Kushal, Ajaz and Sofia sit down to discuss the appropriate names, Kamya prefers to keep away from the discussion and voices her opinion later. After the names are called out in front of Bigg Boss, Kamya goes to Armaan and Tanishaa and tells them that she will never fall prey to any manipulations and will always support what is right. She might be close to Gauahar and Ajaz in the house but that doesn't take away her integrity and she can never be compelled to take a wrong decision.
Upon hearing this, Armaan and Tanishaa praise Kamya endlessly and also compliment her for being unprejudiced. When Gauahar finds out about Kamya's conversation with Armaan, she starts to ignore Kamya, something that was rightly anticipated by Armaan and Tanishaa earlier. Is Kamya playing games to win the hearts of all the contestants or will she apologize to Gauahar and stay true to their friendship?

Jean Kent: Suffolk Gainsborough Melodramas Actress Dies |
Film and television actress Jean Kent, one of Britain's biggest stars in the 1940s and 1950s, has died. She was injured in a fall at her home in Westhorpe, Suffolk, and died at the West Suffolk Hospital in Bury St Edmunds at 03:40 GMT. Her death was announced by a close family friend, author and former film critic Michael Thornton. Her last public appearance was in 2011 when she was honoured by the British Film Institute on her 90th birthday.
Mr Thornton said: "I knew Jean for more than 50 years. She was a feisty, funny, outspoken character who never took herself too seriously. "She knew what it meant to be a star and regarded it as her job to live up to that position and never to disappoint the public." Kent's career included regular appearances in Gainsborough melodramas, which were popular with large numbers of newly-independent women following the outbreak of the Second World War. She made 45 films and during her career starred alongside Marilyn Monroe, Michael Redgrave and Laurence Olivier.
'Bodice-ripping melodramas'

Pakistan Women Break New Ground At Kabaddi World Cup |
The traditional tag-wrestling sport involves players trying to tag an opponent before making it back to their half of the field. Kabaddi is hugely popular in the Punjab provinces of India and Pakistan, where it originates, and is played in countries around the world with South Asian populations. It has traditionally been seen as a macho sport but now Pakistan is sending a women's team to the November 30-December 14 World Cup in India. For 24-year-old Sayeda Fareeda Khanum, who comes from a conservative, religious family where she fought for years to be allowed to compete in sports, it is a dream come true.
"I have been sports crazy since childhood and was selected for national events in various sports many times, but I was never allowed by my family to attend a training camp outside college or university," she told AFP.
"But when I got selected for the kabaddi team, I told my mother that I would play this sport at any cost and left home to join the camp in Lahore." Khanum, the team's best defender, between sessions in a tough fitness workout at Lahore's Punjab stadium. "Getting the national colours was my childhood dream. I am going to India to make a do-or-die battle for my nation and prove that Pakistani girls can do whatever women do in other countries," she said.
India and Pakistan, neighbours and ferocious sporting rivals, have met in two of the three men's world cup finals held so far, with India prevailing both times. The women are determined to succeed where their male counterparts have failed. "We decided to participate in this team for the sake of Pakistan, and for the sake of true patriotism. And we have tried our level best, and by the will of God we will succeed," vice-captain Sumera Zahoor, who comes from a martial arts background, Having decided to build the women's team, the authorities wrote to top sports organisations and educational institutions, collecting a group of girls coming from diverse sporting backgrounds.
Half already represent various other sports like athletics, weightlifting and racket games, while a few new players with the right attitude and ambitions have also earned a place in the team. Training for the women in green, yellow and blue tracksuits begins with prayers and a recitation from the Koran. After chants of "Long live Pakistan" and "God is great", they begin physical training before moving on to wrestling techniques.
It has not been an easy task for the support staff to get the team together and direct their potential.
"All the girls come from different games, some are from athletics, some are weightlifters," Aisha Qazi, the team's coach, said. "These are individual players' games but kabaddi is a team event, so there is a huge difference and it has taken me some time to teach them."
Qazi, herself a first-class cricketer and international baseball player, said they were thrilled to be the first women's team to represent Pakistan in international kabbadi. Head coach Ghulam Abbas Butt said he was confident the women's team would live up to their promise. "I hope the boys' team will win the World Cup this time and the girls would also not disappoint in their first appearance," he said. "I have done this training with my heart, and they followed it the same way. These were new girls and they have done whatever I asked them to do. That's why I know that they will play well," he said. The Pakistan women face England, Mexico and Denmark in their pool matches while arch rivals India play the United States, Kenya and New Zealand.
